Mr. Somsak Thepsuthin (right), Minister of Labour, recently presented the “National Safety Management Award 2006” to Mr. Pitak Phobhiransophon, Occupational Health and Safety Manager (left) received the award on behalf of Hitachi Global Storage Technologies (Thailand) Ltd, during the "Thailand National Safety Week Exhibition".
This marks the third consecutive year that Hitachi GST has received the award, given in recognition of a company’s design and implementation of outstanding safety and health management programs. Criteria for the award are divided into 4 categories, including OH&S policy and compliance with local regulations and professional standards; safety management; occupational health and medical management; and work environment management.
Mr. Nakorn Tangsujaritpun, Deputy Managing Director- Human Resources & Administration, Hitachi Global Storage Technologies, said: “Hitachi GST is currently expanding our workforce to 16,000, and are always mindful of policies that emphasize work safety and efficiency. Hitachi GST is one of Thailand’s largest HDD manufacturers, which has been supported by the BOI’s approvals of our additional US$200 million investment that will increase annual production to 60 million units.”
