Bangkok--27 Jul--In House Agency
The Association of Thai ICT Industry (ATCI) has revealed that Thailand ICT Award this year was supported by leading IT companies and organizations, and has the opportunity to win the Asia Pacific ICT Award in Macau this year. Aiming at promoting the project and expanding international network, ATCI has also planned to showcase the finalists’ applications in Bangkok ICT Expo.
Mr. Jumrud Sawangsamud, President of The Association of Thai ICT Industry (ATCI), said: “Thailand ICT Award was founded in 2004 by Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, Software Industry Promotion Agency (SIPA), and The Association of Thai ICT Industry (ATCI) and has been held annually. The 3rd Thailand ICT Award this year has improved in many aspects, including: categories of the award, presentation format, scoring criteria, training for the candidates, etc., to upraise the standard to match the Asia Pacific ICT Award, so that the winner would be more familiar with the international tournament.”
Mr. Jumrud added that “After years of determination, this project was recognized and well accepted by leading IT companies and organizations, such as Oracle Corporation (Thailand), IBM Thailand, Microsoft (Thailand), CAT Telecom, and Market for Alternative Investment (MAI).”
“The winner of Thailand ICT Award will not only win a chance to join the international tournament, the Asia Pacific ICT Award, but also has the chance to get trade supporters from our sponsors.”
He also said that there are 146 works submitted this year, 58 of them was chosen to the second round. There are almost 40 projects in General category, while there are less works in other specific categories, e.g. Health or Hospital. However, the qualities of submitted works were further improved, which left the hard work for the judging committee. Many works are distinguished, some has the high potential to compete with other products in the market, when some of them was available in the market and already got good respond. So, he was confident that the works could compete with others in the international tournament like the Asia Pacific ICT Awards.
“The contestants were energetic and put a lot of effort to this project, which might be the results of the achievement of last year’s winner who win the Asia Pacific ICT Awards. The works of students and collage students have a lot of creativity and applicable. The chosen works will be showcase in Bangkok ICT Expo 2006 at IMPACT Muangthong Thani to promote the applications. The committee will attend the contestants’ presentation during the exhibition. In addition, there will be the Network Night to expand international network with ASOCIO as well,” concluded Mr. Jumrud.
