Thailand Futures Exchange PCL (TFEX) plans to expand its investor base using internet trading, beginning with an internet trading simulation on Thai Investors’ Day (Aug. 5 — 6, 2006).
“Internet trading in SET50 Index Futures will be fully operational at the end of August, offering people an easier way to invest. Currently the system is being tested by TFEX brokers and system developers, and eventually at least 10 TFEX brokers will be providing internet trading services.
“Increased activity on TFEX has seen average daily trading for May, June, and July climb to 228, 450, and 865 transactions, respectively. Nevertheless, there is a great deal of potential for investor base expansion, especially by using the ‘net’,” TFEX Managing Director Ms. Kesara Manchusree said.
To promote SET50 Index Futures trading, TFEX will be hosting Thai Investors’ Day with the theme: “SET50 Index Futures: easy to learn, and opportunities for gains during both market ups and downs”. Visitors can learn the basics of investing in SET50 Index Futures, and receive tips from the experts.
“During the event, TFEX, in conjunction with SETTRADE.com Co., Ltd. will conduct simulated internet trading in SET50 Index Futures, to familiarize investors with the service before it becomes fully operational. Participants can win prizes and giveaways, and obtain advice from participating brokers. If they open an account they will receive special gifts,” said Ms. Kesara.
