"The economic slowdown during the first half of this year has led to more cautious buying patterns among consumers. However, Big C's growth has remained strong and sales figures have increased satisfactorily. This is mainly attributable to the fact that Big C sells daily necessities and due to positive customer acceptance of Big C's image as low price leader. Our focus on implementing sales promotions, including for the World Cup, is another significant factor contributing to our successful increase in sales," said Braibant.
Sales in the second quarter were 14.967 billion baht, up by 9.2% from the 13.709 billion baht in sales during the same period in 2005. "During the second half of this year, Big C will focus on our 'Check Price' marketing campaign, which reflects our leadership in pricing. Under the campaign, we will examine our product prices on a daily basis to guarantee that Big C products are cheaper than or equal to our competitors' prices. Customers, therefore, will shop at Big C with confidence, which, in turn, will build brand
loyalty," added Braibant.
"While consumers are more cautious about their spending, our exclusive price assurance promotion will make sure that Big C's prices are cheaper than our competitors' prices. We also sell house brand products for 10-15% less than brand products to give consumers an alternative that delivers the highest level of value at more reasonable prices. These efforts are intended to best serve all of our consumers," concluded Braibant.
