Bangkok--17 Aug--Ericsson (Thailand)
Ericsson celebrates 100 years in developing Thailand’s telecommunications infrastructure while leveraging its global practice to expand Thai customer base in every market segment
Ericsson celebrates a 100-year anniversary of its business in Thailand, creating a momentum to further penetrate the markets by meeting an increasing customer’s demand for faster delivery of data and services through integration of complex telecom networks. Adhering to its vision as “The Prime Driver in an all Communicating World,” Ericsson is leveraging its expertise in implementing and managing more than 1,000 networks within 140 countries to its Thai operations, including creating strategic business plans, optimized solutions and introducing new services along with 3G to attract new service customers.
Mr. Hans O Karlsson, President and Country Manager of Ericsson (Thailand), says “In 1906 Ericsson reached an agreement with government of Thailand to deliver and install the first telephone exchange in Bangkok in 2 years later. We also introduced both analog and digital mobile systems to Thailand, marking a page in Thailand’s communications history in 1986, when cellular mobile system NMT 470 was launched in the Telephone Organization of Thailand. 10,000 numbers were offered to customers residing in Bangkok metropolitan and the Eastern Seaboard. Ericsson has been a leader in telecommunication infrastructure and services all over Thailand”
“Ericsson has a new challenging mission in the era of technology communications convergence. In telecommunications management, We are focusing focus on three core businesses; 1. Network Infrastructure (Fixed Network, Mobile Network, Transmission), 2. Managed Services, and 3. Multimedia Solutions. The Network Infrastructure will basically concentrate on delivering high speed communications via Fixed Broadband, Mobile Broadband and 3G. Ericsson’s acquisition Marconi’s key assets has strengthened its position in accelerating transmission segments and the converging networks of Broadband and IP. Our customers will substantially benefit from the convergence of Fixed and Mobile Broadband and this powerful merger. Through our technology leadership experience in more than 140 countries, we are helping customers and companies in Thailand by providing innovative solutions, business plans and service implementations, as well as financial and investment consultation, in order to help them succeed in the world of telecommunications. The work in progress intertwines with the concept of “Taking You Forward,” as “You” clearly identifies Ericsson’s customers” says Mr. Karlsson
Responding to the direction of Thailand’s telecommunications
Thailand’s telecommunications sector is shifting from the legacy wireline network to the Next Generation Network, which will increasingly add value to services and meet the demands of customers in need for high speed communications or the Broadband Network. The Mobile Networks will focus on 3G and shift to a convergence of technology. Ericsson is prepared to develop solutions and provide services in the future world of multimedia, where the convergence of voice, data and video streaming depends on advanced networks and higher speeds when compared to the existing capability.
