Bangkok--22 Aug--SET
Youth up to 25 years old have been invited to join the 10th SETTRADE Youth Music Competition of Thailand, co-hosted by SETTRADE.Com Co., Ltd. (SETTRADE ) and Mahidol University’s College of Music. The competition offers prizes worth more than THB 600,000.
“The event will promote Thai youth and culture, while providing an opportunity for musically gifted youth to display their talent”, SETTRADE CEO Ms. Chanisa Chutipat declared.
An increasing number of youth, particularly from outside Bangkok, participate in this annual event. 2005 saw a 30% increase in provincial contestants, and even more are expected this year.
“Previous contestants have incorporated traditional Thai instruments, such as Pin-Pia (northern harp), Pin-Can (northeastern harp), and the rare high-pitched fiddle, into their performances. We are proud to host an event which will help preserve these unique instruments,” said Ms. Chanisa.
“This competition gives a stage for a variety of musical performances including singing, blending the beauty of the instruments with human voices. The experience the contestants will gain may lead to future careers in music,” project chairman and Mahidol University College of Music Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sugree Charoensook, said.
Interested youth are encouraged to submit a recording, demonstrating their skills with musical instruments or singing, to Mahidol University’s College of Music from today until October 31, 2006. For more information, please call 0 2800-2525 ext. 107-109 or visit www.settrade.com/event
