Bangkok--24 Aug--BhumPR
More than 100 paintings created by 3,000 students from 20 schools in Bangkok are being exhibited at Dusit Zoo from now until August 14 as part of celebrations on the occasion of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit’s birthday.
These “Dream” themed paintings are part of “The Biggest Painting in the World” project initiated by EASY BUY in cooperation with Japan-based non-governmental organization Earth Identity. The project objective is to provide Thai school students with an opportunity to maximize their creativity and to promote collaboration and mutual understanding within communities involved.
Mr Chatchai Lertbuntanawong, Executive Officer — Information Technology Group of EASY BUY Plc, said, “This is the first and only painting project initiated by a combined effort of EASY BUY as a business organization in Thailand and Japan-based Earth Identity Project. By painting, children and youths can communicate their dreams and thoughts through concrete visual forms.
Besides, their painting skill and vision can be improved through participation in the project’s workshop conducted by art gurus.”
With financial support of over two million baht from EASY BUY and great help from Earth Identity Project, the project’s participants has successfully created their pictures of dream under the guideline of Mr Hiromi Inayoshi, a world famous artist.
“We want to encourage Thai children and youths to be confident in expressing their dreams, and to try their best to achieve what they dream in life. Apart from this, we see opportunities for people of all ages to share their thoughts, cultures and experiences through creating and examining the paintings,” added he.
Before the exhibition at Dusit Zoo, all these paintings were sent to Baan Bangkae, a famous state-run foster home in Bangkok for senior citizens, and stitched by the home’s residents, forming one of the world’s biggest paintings.
The stitched art piece will be displayed together with other largest paintings from countries all over the world in the exhibition named “The World Largest Pictures” in New York, USA, in 2010.
The project activities also include seminar on “Color” by art gurus from Japan at the Department of Image and Printing, Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University, on August 12.
The project content is in line with EASY BUY’s business strategy, which includes developing products beyond customer expectation, offering a variety of promotional campaigns that meet the need of customers, delivering outstanding customer satisfaction, and expanding its social contribution.
