OFFERING THAI YOUTHS A WONDERFUL OPPORTUNITY TO PURSUE THEIR MUSICAL TALENTS
Following the trend that youths are using the Internet more and more for listening to music, plus the popularity and success of True Audition music contest held last year, True Music has recently joined up with Overdrive magazine in a nationwide scout for the best youth instrumental band under the campaign ‘True Audition & Overdrive Instrumental Band Contest 2’. Interested bands can send in their application from now until September 30, 2006 and the winning group will have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to pursue its dream of becoming a recognized instrumental band.
According to Mr. Piroon Paireepairit, Multimedia Business Director of True Corporation Plc, “The contest for the first online True Audition music contest held last year was an overwhelming success amassing a lot of public interest and participated by many fans right through from the application process, recruitment until voting via trueworld.net. The contest’s popularity is a clear indication that more and more people are using the Internet to listen to music via broadband connections. The winner will have the chance to be artists of Craftsman which is owned by renowned Thai Producer Chartree (Aom) Kongsuwan. The group will also be signed up with Prat Music Group (PMG) which is owned by well-known Professor Prat Arunrangsri. We believe there are many youths out there who have exceptional musical talent but do not have the opportunity to compete in any contest of this kind.”
Instrumental bands, who wish to participate in the ‘True Audition & Overdrive Instrumental Band Contest 2’ should comprise at least 3-5 members. There are no limitations as to age, sex, educational background, and musical instrument category or music genre. Interested bands should send 2 demo songs — one of their own composition and the other must be their own rendition of the song “Lipstick Traces” by UFO from Michael Schenker’s ‘Phenomenon’ album. The latter demo should be re-developed from the original song, with new rhythms and/or re-harmonized, but the main melody and theme of the song must remain.
Interested bands wishing to participate in the ‘True Audition & Overdrive Instrumental Band Contest 2’ can apply online at www.trueworld.net/True Audition by filling the application form and uploading images together with other related documents, and song demo files, or they can send all the required documents by mail to Overdrive Band Contest 2, Post Box Office 27, Dindaeng Post Office, Bangkok 10404. The deadline for the contest is September 30, 2006.
The winner of the ‘Best Instrumental Band’ title will be awarded 100,000 baht cash, plus the chance to be artists of Craftsman which is owned by renowned Thai Producer Chartree (Aom) Kongsuwan. The group will also be signed up with Prat Music Group (PMG) which is owned by well-known Professor Prat Arunrangsri.
Other prizes to be won are ‘Best Musician’ which will be divided into different instrument categories, including Best Guitarist, Best Electric Guitarist, Best Drum Player, and Best Keyboard player. Winners of these categories will each be awarded 15,000 baht.
True Music is also inviting avid True Music fans to listen to the competing compositions from participating instrumental bands of the ‘True Audition & Overdrive Instrumental Band Contest 2’ from October 5 onwards via www.trueworld.net .
The instrumental bands that qualify for the semi-final round will be announced on October 10, 2006. The public can participate in the excitement by voting for their favorite bands at www.trueworld.net 24 hours a day. Bands who receive the highest scores will be awarded ‘Popular Vote’ and receive a cash prize worth 20,000 baht, while the public who send in their votes will be eligible to win souvenir prizes from True Music as well as have the chance to watch the instrumental bands’ live performances during the semi-final and final rounds of the contest exclusively on www.trueworld.net
