Two education arms of The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET)--Thailand Securities Institute (TSI) and Family Know How Co., Ltd. (FKH)-- join in a project called “I Will Save” to promote savings habits among youth, family members, and society at large, said SET Chairman Mr. Vijit Supinit.
“SET encourages Thai youth to realize that savings are important. Having a culture of personal financial management is an essential mind-set for youngsters, leading to a more stable life and, on a collective basis, benefiting the country as well, ” said he said.
Muang Thai Life Assurance Co., Ltd. is also a project supporter. Its President, Mr. Sara Lamsam, said: “Laying a firm foundation of savings habits and money management for children is essential because they will spend and save wisely when they grow up.”
There are several activities under “I Will Save” Project held in 2006. TSI and FKH have held activities in 800 schools, both in and outside Bangkok. They have also joined the Basic Education Commission and teacher trainers in selecting 220 ”Junior Ambassadors” from 20 universities to promote the ideas in academic institutions around the country.
Other activities include the Magic Piggy Bank stage play, which have been shown, in 11 sessions, to more than 10,000 children; a hand puppet show, aerobic dances, and painting.
An ongoing activity is the second “Saving and Dancing Aerobic Contest”, which is now accepting applicants for the 100 teams from kindergarten schools and Grades 1 — 3. The final round will take place on November 26, 2006.
