Motorola (Thailand) is gearing up to make limitless connections with the grassroots in the rural areas of the country with its massive, yet intellectual marketing activities giving access to mobile phones to those who previously could not afford it.
The scheme is to bring in ‘ultra low cost’ handsets with prices starting from as low as 1,000 Baht handsets yet with great design, optimised durability and long talk times. The range includes the Motorola C113, C113a, C118 available in both black & white and colour screen. The hero is yet the Motorola C168 with colour display, eye-catching design and integrated built in FM radio, yet at the mere price of 2,490 Baht.
“Despite the current economic slowdown, Motorola is confident in the continuous growth of the Thai mobile phone market, including in the rural parts of the country and especially with first time mobile phone buyers. All the network operators are competing fiercely with low cost call promotions; simultaneously, the necessity of using mobile phone is now almost inevitable” said Vittakarn Chandavimol, Regional Marketing Manager Thailand & Indo-China (Mobile Devices Sector), Motorola (Thailand).
Motorola (Thailand) has already begun teasing Bangkokians with the launch of a series of advertisements on public buses underlining Motorola’s family of low cost handsets. The Motorola wrapped public buses are spreading Motorola’s message to connect the unconnected from the centre of the country. This special activity is a build-up in mass target group prior to launching a new marketing activity under ‘Moto Talon Tour’.
The launch is buoyant and starts with a special co—activity to go in line with the launch of Moto wrapped buses: with FM 95 — Luk Toung Mahanakorn radio station, every week of the coming month will have one listener guaranteed to win a handy Motorola C168. The activity will last from 15 September until 15 October. To participate, listeners simply need send SMS to 481455 each time they spot Motorola ads wrapped public buses or join in with the station’s other fun activities.
“Motorola (Thailand) believes in taking music as a vehicle to bring our products closer to our consumers. Besides, we have always strived to provide the latest in technology, performance and design at the lowest cost”, added Vittakarn.
