Bangkok--25 Sep--Patkol
Patkol Public Company Limited or “PATKL” has recently signed an agreement to construct a “turnkey” or full-service ethanol plant for T.P.K. Ethanol, worth Baht 3,000 million, in Nakhon Rachasima province. The project is expected to complete by the end of the year 2007.
Mr. Piya Chongvatana, Managing Director of Patkol Public Company Limited, a specialist in engineering excellence, said “Patkol was assigned by T.P.K. Ethanol (a sister company of Thai Europe Feed Company Limited, Thailand’s major exporter of tapioca products, and T.P.K. Starch Company Limited) to construct a turnkey plant with the production capacity of 1 million litre per day in Nakhon Rachasima province, value Baht 3,148 million. The construction period is 15 months, and the project is expected to complete by the end of the year 2007. Patkol considered this opportunity to build the ethanol turnkey with the highest production capacity in Thailand a great achievement of the company.”
Patkol purchased the technical know-how for the turnkey plant from America-based Katzen International Inc., a leading consulting engineering firm located in Cincinnati, Ohio, with over 50 years of experience in ethanol plant construction. Katzen produces ethanol using starch as the raw material. The technology can be applied to having tapiocas as the raw material, since tapiocas are cheap and widely cultivated in Thailand. Patkol and Katzen work together with the design engineering process. This helps Patkol to save a lot of design costs.
Patkol is experienced in ethanol turnkey construction. In 2003, Patkol built major parts and units for Thai Agro Energy’s ethanol plant in Amphur Dan Chang, Supanburi province. In March 2006, Patkol has signed a contract to construct an ethanol production plant with the production capacity of 150,000 litre per day, value Baht 500 million, for Rajburi Ethanol Company Limited. The experiences and expertise established Patkol as Thailand’s first builder of ethanol production plant. Patkol, to the latest information provided, has no local rival. Existing competitors in ethanol plant construction business are firms from India, China, and Europe.
“Patkol is expected to gain Baht 600 million revenue from the ethanol projects for T.P.K. Ethanol and Rajburi Ethanol this year, and Baht 2,900 million next year. The growth trend of the company’s core business in the latter half of this year should be good. As for the outlook of the turnkey business, Patkol is negotiating on constructing ethanol production plant with many business partners, aside from T.P.K. Ethanol. The deals can be concluded shortly,” said Khun Piya.
The half year (January to June 2006) business performance of Patkol reported a total revenue of Baht 1,615.23 million and a net profit of Baht 53.66 million, up 55 percent from the same period of the year earlier. The mainstream of the revenue is from the turnkey projects, and the rest from manufacture and distribution of ice making machines and freezers for food, dairy, and beverages industries. Patkol also places a high importance on research and development for new innovative products. In 2005, Patkol invested Baht 30 million in research and development. Products of Patkol include, for example, cylinder ice and block ice making machines, cold rooms and freezing systems for frozen food industry, showcases (vegetables-fruits-sausages) used in supermarkets, and design engineering services for dairy-beverage and ice-cream plants.
Note to Editor: Patkol Public Company Limited or “PATKL” was established in 1965, and now has the total assets worth over Baht 3,000 million. Patkol is an expert in engineering service, and a leading manufacturer of food industry and freezing systems in Asia-Pacific region. Patkol has entered into a diversified business which is to construct “turnkey” or full-serviced ethanol production plants, using the world’s most cutting edge technology to render the maximum amount of quality ethanol. Patkol employs over 1,400 employees, including over 300 engineers. The company also invests in its in-house research and development (R&D) department and employs more than 20 engineers with post-graduate degrees to do research and develop new products.
