Bangkok--10 Oct--SET
Together with its 24 members, The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) has undertaken a number of educational activities in 2006, such as hosting the ‘SET Visit’ program, which includes seminars designed specifically for new investors. About 25% of those participating have subsequently opened trading accounts.
As part of its investor base expansion plan, this free program is aimed at attracting potential clients from among the employees of private corporations and state enterprises, and persons with special interests, such as sportspeople and booklovers. Since February 2006, SET and its member companies have been holding monthly seminars and training sessions tailored to suit each group’s interests, SET Executive Vice President Mr. Vichate Tantiwanich said.
“The 16 SET Visits held so far with about 900 participants have led to 200 opening trading accounts. The program enables people to get to know each other, gain useful information and consider investing through a broker,” Mr. Vichate added.
To date, nine securities companies - ACLS Securities, Asia Plus Securities PCL, Ayudhya Securities PCL, Capital Nomura Securities PCL, Finansa Securities, Kasikorn Securities PCL, KGI Securities (Thailand) PCL, Siam City Securities, and Thanachart Securities PCL - have co-hosted seminars with SET.
A number of SET Visits are held each month, including six in this month: October 3 - hosted by Kasikorn Asset Management; October 7 - hosted by Thanachart Securities, Phuket branch; Oct. 14 - hosted by Siam City Securities; and three events on October 28 - hosted separately by Asia Plus Securities, Siam City Securities, and Ayudhya Securities.
