Critically acclaimed drama Six Feet Under, the Emmy? and Golden Globe?-winning HBO Original Series, returns for the final season on HBO and HBO Signature on Tuesday, 10 October 2006 at 9 pm.
Created and executively-produced by Alan Ball, the Oscar?-winning writer of American Beauty (winner of 5 Oscars?), Six Feet Under features the extended Fisher family, whose personal trials and tribulations are played out against the solemn backdrop of an independent funeral home in Los Angeles.
Continuing to use dark and situational humour, Season Five of Six Feet Under sees the Fisher family facing and overcoming individual issues, with elements set up in the previous four seasons culminating in a succession of emotional climaxes that lead the characters to come to terms with the cycle of life and death in each of their own unique ways.
Returning cast regulars in the fifth season include Peter Krause (who was nominated for two Emmy? Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, and two SAG Awards for his portrayal of Nate Fisher), Michael C. Hall (Nominated for two Emmy? Awards for Best performance by a Leading Actor in a Drama Series.), Rachel Griffiths (Golden Globe? Award Winner for her role as Brenda Chenowith), Frances Conroy (Winner of Golden Globe? Award for her role in this series), Lauren Ambrose, Emmy Award? nominee Freddy Rodriguez, Mathew St. Patrick and James Cromwell.
In this season of Six Feet Under, Ruth Fisher (Frances Conroy) faces trials in terms of George, as she is burdened and beleaguered by the needs of her psychologically delicate husband. Nate (Peter Krause), struggling to strengthen the relationship and rapport between him and Brenda, has to be responsible for the care and well-being of his daughter at the same time while the still young Claire Fisher (Lauren Ambrose) attempts to seek out greener pastures.
Added to this, David (Michael C. Hall) and his partner Keith wishing for children to call their own, face difficulty in their task, while the now wifeless Federico Diaz (Freddy Rodriguez) tries to get over losing Vanessa.
A breakout smash hit for HBO and drawing a strong following, Six Feet Under has, to date, received 32 Emmy? nominations and won seven times, and has been nominated for eight Golden Globes?, winning three.
The brand new fifth and final season of the award-wining HBO Original Series, Six Feet Under premieres for the first time on Asian television with two episodes back-to-back on Tuesday, 10 October at 9 pm on HBO. Catch a new episode on HBO (UBC 12) every Tuesday night at 10 pm.
