Bangkok--12 Oct--SET
Residents from Chiang Mai province and neighboring areas can now obtain insights into the capital market industry and updated information to assist with making informed investment decisions, thanks to the northern “Money Expo” road show in October.
The event will be on October 13 — 15, 2006, at Chiang Mai University Main Hall. The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) and relevant organizations, including the Market for Alternative Investment (mai), Bond Electronic Exchange (BEX), Thailand Futures Exchange PCL (TFEX), Agricultural Future Exchange of Thailand (AFET), Thailand Securities Institute (TSI), Thailand Securities Depository Co., Ltd. (TSD), SETTRADE.Com, “Put Your Money to Work” Project, and Money Channel, will all be there, SET Executive Vice President Mr. Vichate Tantiwanich declared.
“As an economic and tourist hub, Chiang Mai is one of those northern provinces with great potential having a population of 1.6 million and economic growth at around 9.7%. Securities trading turnover in northern Thailand during the first eight months of the year totaled THB 104.27 billion (monthly average THB 13.03 billion). For Chiang Mai alone, trading turnover was THB 52.88 billion (monthly average THB 6.6 billion), the highest in the region. Currently, SET members have 21 branches in the province,” Mr. Vichate said.
This Money Expo provides an opportunity for people in the north to access investment information conveniently from a range of capital market organizations and make knowledgeable financial choices. The event, hosted by Money & Banking Magazine, provides northern provinces with opportunities similar to those in Bangkok. There will be 22 participating organizations, including 17 commercial banks and other financial institutions, that will offer credit card services and personal, SME and housing loans.
“Among the highlights will be live broadcasts from the event on Money Channel and a satellite hook-up for visitors with financial experts in Bangkok. Other features will be TSD’s e-Dividend service, free education about SET50 Index Futures, the latest information from BEX and SETTRADE, and two seminars: “Trends in the Thai economy, investment, and stock market in 2007”, and “Investing for family wealth”. Those registering early will receive free pocket books, and SET publications will be available at a 15% discount. Also worth noting is that each THB 40 donation to charity will attract a free SET pocket book,” Mr. Vichate concluded
