The Honda Group of Companies in Thailand today announced the extension of the deadline for submitting applications for the Honda School Environmental Challenge IV project, under the theme of “Follow The King’s Path with Honda,” to November 17, 2006. The Honda Group decided to extend the deadline due to the recent floods in several provinces to give interested schools in those areas additional time to prepare their proposals.
Mr. Pongdej Sriwachirapradit, Project Director and Human Resources Manager of Asian Honda Motor said: “We’ve been contacted by schools in provinces affected by the floods that are interested in participating in the project, but their current priority is flood recovery. Therefore, Honda decided to extend the application deadline from October 31 to November 17.” He added that Honda encourages schools nationwide to participate in this project to auspiciously celebrate the 60th anniversary of the H.M. the King’s accession to the throne and addressing environmental issues in line with Royal initiatives.
The Honda School Environmental Challenge IV project under the “Follow The King’s Path with Honda” theme is being conducted with Dr. Sumet Tantivejkul as advisor and in conjunction with the Office of The Royal Development Projects Board and the Ministries of Education; Natural Resources and Environment; Energy; and Agriculture and Co-operatives. The Honda School Environmental Challenge IV project encourages schools and communities to address issues that are increasingly affecting Thailand in three areas: water pollution and conservation; waste management and reduction; and energy management and conservation.
Interested schools nationwide can submit their project proposals by November 17, 2006. In February 2007, the 60 schools for which proposals have been selected will be announced. The selected schools will receive funds ranging from 10,000 to 60,000 baht so they can actually implement their projects. The most outstanding school will receive the grand prize of the H.M. The King’s Trophy.
