For a day of fun, music, international entertainment and fabulous German food, the Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel & Towers will host “an Oktoberfest Festival", the popular Bavarian beer-drinking festival, at the hotel's Riverside Terrace on Saturday 25th of November 2006.
When the wedding of Crown Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen took place on 12th October 1810, an enormous festival was organised to celebrate the event. The citizens of Munich attended in the fields in front of the city gates. It was so successful that the city decided to hold the festival every year, beginning the tradition of Oktoberfest.
Oktoberfest of today is a massive event when millions of tourists descend on Munich for a week of celebration with huge beer tents, Bavarian food, song & dance, and lots of entertainment.
Capture the essence of this popular Munich tradition at the Royal Orchid Sheraton's Riverside Terrace, with a rousing party of authentic Bavarian cuisine plus live entertainment by the "Williams", an eight-piece German band who have flown to Bangkok for this occasion. Festival activities will also be available such as tree tunk cutting, pyramid of cans, darts, nail hammering competition and much more.
Michael Hoevel, the hotel's German Executive Chef, will prepare an extensive buffet of traditional Bavarian favorites such as "Schwarzwalder Schinken mit sauren gurken" - Black Forest Ham with Gherkins, "Munchner Schweins oder Surhaxe mit Sauerkraut und Kartoffelknodel" - Roasted Pork Knuckel, "Verschiedene Grill Bratwurste mit Sauerkraut und Kartoffelpuree" - Assorted Grilled & Boiled Sausages, "Oktoberfest Grill Hahnchen mit Pommes Frittes" - Spit Roasted Oktoberfest Chicken.
