Air Madagascar has entered a code-share with Air Austral, the national carrier of the island of Reunion, to expand its route to St. Denis, Reunion’s capital. A new Bangkok-St. Denis-Antananarivo flight schedule will, therefore, be effective as of November 25, 2006.
The stopover at St. Denis will be 1 hour and 25 minutes before continuing to fly directly to Antananarivo, the capital city of Madagascar. “Our expansion to include St. Denis on our routing is a very exciting prospect as Air Madagascar will be the only carrier from Asia to operate a direct flight to Reunion. As a result of this, Bangkok will be taking another step towards becoming the region’s aviation hub”, commented Mr. Howard Noble, Air Madagascar’s Regional Sales Development Manager, Asia. “Thai travelers are becoming more and more sophisticated, looking for new destinations to explore, and we believe that Reunion will attract many local adventurers. While retaining its own traditions and culture, the French colonial island offers many interesting attractions as well as world-class hotels and resorts”, Mr. Noble added.
The new timetable is as follows:
MD 011 Bangkok — Antananarivo 0110 — 0755 hrs.
MD 010 Antananarivo — Bangkok 0735 — 2220 hrs.
At present, Air Madagascar serves the Bangkok—Antananarivo route with 2 flights a week by a Boeing 767-300 aircraft, which offers Business and Economy Class configurations.
