Wirach Pracharktam, managing director of Nam Silp Thai Eyewear Company Limited, the leading wholesaler and distributor of premium eyewear said that the company has been entrusted with the exclusive distributorship of LACOSTE Eyewear in Thailand by Charmant International Corporation Company Limited, the leading Japanese manufacturer and supplier of glasses frame and sunglasses responsible for marketing and distribution of LACOSTE eyewear in Asia, America and Oceania. The company is confident that LACOSTE will gain a positive feedback from the customers particularly among the fashionable customers both male and female. In addition, it expects to gain a good response from the customers who are confident and loyal to the LACOSTE brand especially the ones who own other LACOSTE items such as apparels, bags, shoes and perfume. The brand personality stresses on its elegant, contemporary and colorful design that reflects the sporty lifestyle.
Wirach said that the launch of LACOSTE eyewear today marks the unveiling of the new innovative design of over 20 latest models of LACOSTE eyewear. These new models are improved and developed to suit the Asian lifestyle by focusing on the outstanding designs. The new designs are completely different from the previous collections. They are more colorful and fashionable.
This new LACOSTE eyewear launch is also considered as a good opportunity to present the new “Asian Design” concept that matches the Asian lifestyle. The products are very simple in style yet come in a variety of colors. The design is elegant and contemporary and the material quality are high resulting in the lightness and wearing comfort. LACOSTE eyewear would perfectly serves the demand of male and female consumers with fashionable lifestyle with affordable pricing strategy ranging around 6,000-8,000 baht.
With regard to the marketing plan during the introductory period, the company will focus on building brand and product awareness through advertising, public relations promotion activities as well as the launch party to showcase over 20 new models of sun glasses and spectacle frames that would meet the demand of the target customers. LACOSTE eyewear targets young and working generation customers who prefer an elegant but casual sporty lifestyle and the customers who require high quality goods.
LACOSTE eyewear range will be available at the leading optical shops throughout the country. At the same time, the company has plan to make the eyewear range available at LACOSTE shops. However, it is currently during negotiation progress with I.C.C International Public Company Limited or I.C.C, the main licensee of LACOSTE products in Thailand. The company will set aside about 10% of the total sales revenue for marketing expenditure. It plans to have about 150 points of sales here in Thailand which would lead to a 15% increase in its total revenue during the first year.
Wirach added regarding the eyewear market situation in Thailand that the behavior of the Thai consumers regarding the use of eyewear has evolved at a fast pace. The younger generation pays more attention to the fashion trend, brand and design when choosing for the sunglasses and spectacle frames rather than only for the vision benefit factor as in the past resulted in the increasing growth rate of the fashion eyewear segment by 5-10% each year. The overall eyewear market this year is estimated to grow by 3-5% from the total market value of about 5,500 million baht.
