The Technology Promotion Association (Thailand-Japan), together with Thai and Japanese public and private industry organizations, have launched the “Thai-Nichi Institute of Technology” to produce specialized personnel to support the expansion of Thailand’s industry and investment sectors, which are growing at 7.6 %.
The first semester, starting in 2007, will award 120 scholarships to celebrate the 120th Anniversary of Thailand-Japan Relations.
Prof. Dr. Wichit Srisa-an, Minister of Education, said the establishment of Thai-Nichi Institute of Technology (TNI) follows the philosophy of sufficient economy that emphasizes building knowledge, strong fundamentals, and a network of cooperation regarding the private sector’s role as the producer of personnel and knowledge for Thai society and for the country’s ability to keep up with the world in globalization.
TNI will produce high-quality human resources with ethics and expertise to serve the industry and investment sectors very well. According to the Office of Industrial Economics, the industry and trade sectors of the country grew at 7.6 %, he said.
Assoc. Prof. Krisada Visavateeranon, Rector of Thai — Nichi Institute of technology said the institute’s primary objective is to produce personnel with specific expertise to serve the industry and trade sectors.
The first semester in 2007 will start with bachelor’s and master’s degree programs. The bachelor’s level consists of Engineering Faculty (Automotive Engineering), Information Technology Faculty (IT), and Business Administration Faculty (Industrial Management). The master’s level will commence with Business Administration Faculty (Industrial Management). The programs are taught in Thai, but studies of English and Japanese are offered.
“Because the institute’s first semester, starting in 2007, is on the same occasion that Thailand and Japan will celebrate their 120th anniversary of relations, the institute will prepare 120 scholarships, or 30 per cent of the total of 400 first-entry students.
“It’s a great opportunity for Thai students and education in the future. The scholarships, funded by contributions from private and public Thai and Japanese organizations, are granted without reimbursement to support four years of study,” he said.
The Technology Promotion Association (Thailand-Japan) is the organization that initiated TNI. For 33 years, TPA has specialized in fostering close cooperation between Thailand and Japan’s industrial and trade sectors.
The association has been well supported by private and public organizations of Thailand and Japan in areas of scholarships, expert transfer, learning facilities, hands-on training, and job recruitment, to cope with the shortage of personnel. Thailand’s industrial sector demands more than 10,000 jobs.
Thai-Nichi Institute of Technology has already opened for applications through January 8, 2007, at the 6th floor of the institute at Pattanakarn 18, Suanluang, Bangkok 02-717-3000 ext. 661-664 or online at www.tni.ac.th
