Bangkok--29 Nov--Branded The Agency
The department's director-general Rachane Potjanasuntorn said that the state agency, together with 15 local textile manufacturers, exhibited the T3 textile brand at several international fabric fairs, including Texworld in Paris, Source It in Hong Kong, and Intertextile in Shanghai.
He said that several potential buyers and importers from Europe, Asia, and South America, at the fairs reacted positively to the T3 brand products. "Each of them is interested in different design and colors of our fabrics. For an example, the potential buyers from France and Italy showed strong interest in the fabrics with a great deal of details in the textures while those from Japan have preferred our silk fabrics," Rachane said.
He added that the fair attendants share a common view that the Thai textiles have higher quality and a greater variety of designs than those from the other countries such as India and China.
He said that the department would further continue promoting the T3 brand. Next year Thailand will focus more on working in collaboration with neighboring countries, including Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos, to expand the network. While the Thai neighbors can capitalize on the advantage of their lower labor wages, Thailand has still taken the lead in term of designs and quality, he said.
More, they still have to mainly rely on raw material import from Thailand to produce the textiles for export.
"Thereby, we should join together to promote Thailand as the center of the textiles," Rachane said.
Thai Textile Manufacturing Association's president Phongsak Assakul and one of the manufacturers in the T3 project, said that the project has benefited the local manufacturers by enabling them to develop the products in order to meet with the specific demands of the global markets.
The participation of the Thai manufacturers in the international expositions has also boosted the confidence of the buyers, he added.
Currently the local manufacturers receive a long list of purchase orders from the foreign buyers, he said.
The T3 project was initiated five years ago to support the local textiles and garment manufacturers in developing their product designs and improve the quality to meet with the specific demands of the world's markets. The project has also encouraged the manufacturers to rely greater on the local raw materials to produce the garments.
