The latest patient is wheeled into the hospital with a seriously swollen tongue, when a man walks in and shoots House. Waking up in a ward, House insists on treating a steadily worsening Vince, and then confronts his captured shooter Jack—the husband of a former patient who committed suicide. As Vince’s internal pressure spikes and bursts his scrotum, House becomes increasingly frustrated at missing simple symptoms and clues, and is thoroughly mystified when told after talking to Vince’s wife, Judy, that Vince is a widower.
His suspicions growing, House learns that his treatment after being shot has removed his limp—and affected his brain: he continually overlooks simple things and sees himself in a car with Judy, who is actually Jack’s dead wife.
