Spyker, the car of ultimate luxury and speed from the Netherlands, unveils its top-of-the line C8 Double 12 S, valued at 37 million baht, at the Motor Expo 2006, creating a new phenomenon in Thailand’s automobile industry and an exhilarating discovery for car lovers at IMPACT, Muang Thani, from November 30 to December 11, 2006.
SL. International Automobiles Co., Ltd., the exclusive dealer of Spyker cars in Thailand, launches its top model, the C8 Double 12 S, today (Wednesday, November 29, 2006) at the Motor Expo 2006, IMPACT, Muang Thani. On hand to introduce the car was the company’s Managing Director Ms. Vitchuda Leenutaphong. The event also sees the participation of Mr. Martyn Schilte, General Manager, Spyker of China Ltd.
Ms. Vitchuda said: “Spyker represents luxury and sophistication with unsurpassed excellence in both engineering and design. Spyker is a car of exclusivity and above all, passion. I am confident that the Spyker will make a real impact on anyone who’s passionate about elegance and speed. I am proud to offer this opportunity to Thai luxury car lovers to experience the exclusivity of Spyker.”
The Spyker C8 Double 12 is the top model of the three Spyker cars available in Thailand. The other two Spykers namely C8 Laviolette and C8 Spyder have earlier been introduced.
The C8 Double 12 S is praised for its excellence performance because it has been developed from the racer which made its name in the famous 24-hour Le Mans race. Its outstanding designs, inspired by a modern jet fighter, are presented through steering wheel, console, a matchless gearlever, and control switches, reminiscent to the Spyker’s heritage.
The design of the C8 Double 12 S is in many ways reminiscent of an aeroplane, giving a sense of luxury and class. Its unique aluminium areoblade steering wheel directs the power of a 6 speed automatic transmission with paddle shift. With 400 horse-power, 7,500 rpm performance and a 0 to 100-km/hr acceleration time of just 4.5 seconds, the C8 Double 12 S reaches a maximum speed of 300 km/h.
Meanwhile, the Spyker car will be available for viewing at different venues in Bangkok. The C8 Spyder is on display at “Bangkok Supercars Concours” at Gaysorn Plaza, from November 30 to December 3, 2006, and after the Motor Expo 2006, they will be showcased at Siam Paragon, from December 1, 2006 to January 2, 2007.
In 1898 two brothers, Jacobus and Hendrik-Jan Spijker, originally coachbuilders in Amsterdam, built their first Benz-engined motorcar with which they won immediate acclaim for the craftsmanship of their bodywork. In the same year Spijker built the famous golden state coach, still in use today, to commemorate the forthcoming coronation of the Dutch queen. This was the turning point in their business career. From that moment on the Spijker brothers committed their full attention to the production of motorcars. The business name was changed to Spyker, for easier recognition in foreign markets.
Spyker cars are heralded by the worldwide automobile industry for their breathtaking shape and acclaimed list of awards received. Their eye catching interior-features and instrumentation design are reminiscent of an airplane’s interior and reflect Spyker’s aviation heritage. Spyker is a car built from passion, and buyers can choose from every conceivable body colour and leather type, with an infinite number of options available.
