- Responsible Gaming initiative promotes well-rounded, healthy lifestyles to sharpen gaming skills -
AMD (NYSE: AMD) today announced a Responsible Gaming initiative in 6 countries: Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines and Vietnam. Beginning with a soccer tournament at the Compaq AMD Pro-gaming League (CAPL) in Singapore, AMD will roll out a series of activities and programs to help gamers sharpen their skills through healthier lifestyles.
Today, cyber-gaming has becoming a mainstream activity and many children are aspiring to turn their passion into a possible profession in the future. Devoting long hours of training, health and lifestyle are sometimes accorded as secondary. As a recognized leader in the gaming industry, AMD is promoting a responsible and balanced approach by engaging gamers in both physical and mental competitive challenges.
“Our initiative here encourages gamers to engage responsibly,” said Bryan Low, vice president, sales and marketing, South Asia, AMD Far East Ltd. “Today’s games are so compelling that they can be quite an attraction. As a leader, we encourage gamers and everyone else to have a balanced lifestyle that includes exercise, fresh air and other activities.”
To kick start the Responsible Gaming initiative, AMD will organize a soccer tournament for the gamers participating in the Compaq AMD Pro-gaming League (CAPL) in Singapore and a series of other activities across ASEAN region subsequently. CAPL is Singapore’s first year-long Pro-gaming league that ranks its players at different tiers with three different games; Counter-Strike 1.6, Warcraft III and DOTA All-Stars.
