Bangkok--15 Dec--Thai AirAsia
Movie advertisements are moving to aircrafts for the first time in Thailand with the partnership of Thai AirAsia and film company PromMitre.
Thai AirAsia is advertising on its aircrafts the upcoming movie King Naresuan, which retells the glorious history of Thailand’s monarchy and independence. The project costs millions.
“Thai AirAsia is proud to be Thai because of Thailand’s rich heritage. Our history has produced the present monarchy, which goes out of its way to help the country. We are proud to support the movie in honor of the monarchy that has helped
Thailand keep its independence,” said Tassapon Bijleveld, chief executive officer of Thai AirAsia.
Thai AirAsia’s newest Boeing 737-300 aircraft is covered outside with special stickers showing scenes from King Naresuan. The aircraft will start flying on December 12 to all of Thai AirAsia’s domestic and international destinations. The aircraft plus two others also carry movie advertisements onboard. New and sophisticated techniques and skilled labor were used to put the stickers on the aircrafts. The materials for the stickers are from the U.S., and the artwork was made in Singapore.
“We are very proud and happy that Thai AirAsia understands the importance of King Naresuan. Thai AirAsia offered to make its aircraft a moving advertising medium. This advertising method is very effective and will let us announce how big this movie is and to honor and proclaim our king to the world,” said Kunakorn Seati, the producer of King Naresuan.
King Naresuan cost 700 million baht to produce and is the most expensive Thai movie. The movie was directed by M.C. Chartreechalerm Yukon.
King Naresuan presents a new dimension in Thai movie production. Special techniques from abroad were used to create the scenes and props. Horses used on the set were imported from abroad and were especially trained to act in action movies.
The movie will be shown in two episodes, which will start showing on January 18, 2007.
