General Engineering Plc, a leading listed pilling service company, has appointed Mr. Vichaya Chatikavanij as Chief Executive Officer while Mr. Kittichai Raktakanit is promoted to president replacing Mr. Vichaya.
Mr. Vichaya said the new management structure was approved at the meeting of the Board of Director on December 14, 2006. The company hopes the new management structure will help the organization to be adroit.
“However, I will remain help my new president day by day basis, but I will overlook the organization as a policy maker while Khun Kittichai will be responsible for daily management,” said Mr. Vichaya.
Mr. Kittichai has joined with GEN since 1996 as Senior Vice President for Corporate Finance. He played an important role in the company during the recent economic crisis causing GEN to be a company under rehabilitation process and finally, the company successfully quit from the worse situation.
Moreover, Mr. Kittichai has been a key executive to develop news business of small-medium scale construction contributing 150 million baht this year to the company representing about 15% of the revenue.
Mr. Kittichai said GEN next year would push the high margin and high technology products, including special cement Denka, epoxy Sho-Bond and Tensar Geogrids and Geotextile.
Denka is a product of Taiheiyo Cement Corporation, Japan and GEN receives license for local market. Its main application is used for grouting for heavy machine base grouting, plant foundation structure base grouting and repair works of existing concrete.
GEN has been appointed to be a sole distributor and applicator of various high quality epoxy material Sho-Bond to serve the construction and maintenance of public infrastructures f existing and new construction structures such as highways, expressway, tunnel, railroad. Sho-Bond is one of the world leaders in concrete protection repair technology, maintenance, reinforced and strengthening of concrete structure such as bridges, highways and building.
Tensar Geogrids and Geotextile, products from Netlon Limited UK and introduced by GEN more than 20 years. It is range of very high tensile strength polymer grids which have been developed specifically for the reinforcement of soils. Its application includes soft soil foundation, retaining wall, golf course and container yard etc.
“Although these three products do not generate high sales volume, we are confident the high quality products will have a great opportunity in Thailand as a result of growing demand for high quality construction materials,” said Mr. Kittichai.
Meanwhile, Mr. Vichaya added that Gen expected its turnover this year at about one billion bath, increased from 836.42 million baht in last year. At the moment, Gen carries about 400 million baht back-lock works.
