Moving towards convergence of mobility and Internet to deliver on Nokia promise of connecting people
New year kicks off with launch of new Nokia N93i, Nokia 6300, Nokia 2626 and Bluetooth headsets
Nokia, the world leader in mobile communications, today announced its 2007 business direction for Thailand. Focusing on technology leadership, Nokia is moving forward with the convergence of mobility and the Internet to deliver on its promise of connecting people. Nokia also kicked off the new year with new devices designed to reflect Nokia’s strong vision of providing a wide selection of products to meet the needs of all consumer segments. The company will strengthen its customer care by opening up to four additional Nokia care centers, expanding collection points nationwide and increasing its capacity. For corporate social responsibilty, Nokia will continue its long-term commitment to support children and their education by building schools and making donations to Royal projects.
Mr. Bob McDougall, Managing Director, Customer and Market Operations, Nokia (Thailand) Ltd. said, “Internet convergence is the mega trend that will have a major impact on both the communications and media industries. Internet convergence enables Nokia to offer rich multimedia experiences to people. The Internet is evolving into a place where people participate, interact and share their experiences with the world, often referred to as Web 2.0. Nokia Nseries multimedia computers are the optimal devices to take part in this Web 2.0 evolution.
“Nokia sees that consumers want their existing Internet services such as Internet communities, email, instant messaging, and news & information available whenever and wherever they want, without being constrained by a computer with fixed-line Internet access. Nokia, as the mobility leader and an emerging Internet company, will exploit the opportunities created by convergence with devices that meet the needs of Thai consumers who want full connectivity,” he added.
Nokia kicked off the new year with three new devices: the Nokia N93i, Nokia 6300 and Nokia 2626, plus three new Bluetooth headsets: the BH-301, BH-207 and BH-100. The new devices reinforce Nokia’s vision of providing a variety of products to match the lifestyles and budgets of all consumers.
According to Mr McDougall, “Our commitment to delivering consumers the best in multimedia computers is gaining momentum. The Nokia N93i reinforces Nokia’s vision of mobilizing the Internet and how multimedia devices are making it possible to create and share our experiences when and where we want. The Nokia N93i, with Carl Zeiss optics and the capability to record DVD-quality video, is a connected digital camera that is always with you. You can instantly upload video clips in their original size directly from the device to online blogs or video communities, so sharing your stories is now as easy as recording and viewing them.”
Nokia recently announced its co-operaton with Six Apart, the world’s leader in blogging software and services, to create Vox ( www.vox.com ), a free personal blogging service for the Nokia Nseries multimedia computer product range. The two companies will make it easy for people to upload video and photos and update their blogs directly from their compatible Nokia Nseries devices to the Vox blogging service. This is an important step in making Web 2.0 mobile and enabling people to create and share their experiences with friends and family on the go. The Nokia N93i, announced today, is the first product to include the integrated Vox service.
“We want to make sure that the Nokia Nseries offers the best possible way for people to participate in Web 2.0 communities when they’re mobile. Nokia and Six Apart are making it easy for people to connect and share their life experiences without being tied to a PC”, said Mr. McDougall.
In addition to the Nokia N93i, Nokia also today launched the Nokia 6300, a mid-range model that represents the evolution of the modern monoblock design and the Nokia 2626, a colorful mobile phone designed for style-conscious, entry-level consumers. Nokia also launched three new Bluetooth Headsets: the Nokia BH-301 Bluetooth Headset, the Nokia BH-207 Bluetooth Headset and the Nokia BH-100 Bluetooth Headset, all of which add comfort and more choice to wireless communications.
“The Nokia 6300 and Nokia 2626 enhance Nokia’s wide range of products and reinforce our commitment to offering consumers a choice in selecting the right balance of technology and design to reflect their lifestyles and budgets. The new range of Bluetooth headsets are also designed to match consumers’ budgets and individual tastes while adding to our extensive range of accessories and enhancements,” added Mr McDougall.
In addition to product development, Nokia is also committed to strengthening its customer care in Thailand. By end of 2007, Nokia will open up to four additional Nokia care centers, expand collection points nationwide and increase its capacity to offer quick turnaround for customer service.
Being a good corporate citizen, in 2007 Nokia will continue its long term-commitment to social activites that benefit Thai society. The company will continue supporting children and their education by funding school building projects in remote areas, a program that is entering its seventh year. Nokia will also continue to make donations to Royal foundations.
