Bangkok--8 Feb--Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation

Intra-Asian travel costs are dramatically coming down, due to waves of low cost carrier (LCC) special promotions, with the potential to create a budget travel boom in the region.
“One in ten airline seats in Asia is now provided by LCCs and savvy travellers can link up one-way special fares on multiple airlines to travel around Asia extraordinarily cheaply”, said the Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation’s Chief Operating Officer, Derek Sadubin.
The Centre constructed a 12-stop Asian itinerary* utilising eight airlines (Virgin Blue, Tiger Airways, Thai AirAsia, AirAsia, Viva Macau, Lion Air, Indonesia AirAsia and Jetstar), for travel departing Sydney in September 2007, with air fares — including taxes — for just AUD1,859 (USD1,451).
