Bangkok--9 Feb--SET
The first of The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET)’s seven road shows, with the theme - “Invest today for better financial health tomorrow”, will be ‘Money Expo Korat 2007’ on February 9 — 11, at The Mall Department Store, Korat province.
In May there will be ‘Money Expo Bangkok’. As well as the event in Nakorn Ratchasima, or ‘Korat’, one is scheduled for Chiang Mai in October. The other four are Money Channel road shows held each quarter, starting with Phuket in March, followed by Chiang Mai in June, Udon Thani in August, and Khon Kaen in November.
“In Korat, visitors can enjoy fun activities, a ‘financial check-up’ service from Thailand Securities Institute, and gain greater understanding of stocks, bonds, derivatives and investment units,” SET President Ms. Patareeya Benjapolchai said.
In terms of trading activity, Nakorn Ratchasima leads the Northeastern region, with a turnover of THB 36,791.14 million in 2006, or THB 3,065.93 million a month. Trade there accounted for 31.73% of trade in the Northeastern region, totaling THB 115,951.93 million in 2006, or THB 9,662.66 million a month. There are 10 securities firms’ branch offices there.
There will be several SET units and related capital market organizations in the Exchange’s booth, including Market for Alternative Investment (mai), Bond Electronic Exchange (BEX), Thailand Futures Exchange (TFEX), Thailand Securities Depository Co., Ltd. (TSD), SETTRADE.Com, Family Know-How, Thailand Securities Institute (TSI), and Agricultural Futures Exchange of Thailand (AFET).
TSD will set up its TSD Counter Service providing e-Dividend, various investment services, research reports and giveaways. SETTRADE.Com will be selling its SETSMART Card at a discount, and providing manual and internet trading tips. Visitors can also obtain a free Money & Wealth Magazine and advice on how to tune to ‘Money Channel’, a service of Family Know-How Co., Ltd. They will also receive discounts of 15 to 50% on SET publications.
TSI will give pocket books to people who donate THB 40 to purchase books and materials for Nakorn Ratchasima Vocational College.
“Provincial road shows allow the SET group to continue its educational mission, enabling people to gain enough insight to be able to invest wisely,” Ms. Patareeya concluded.
