“ADORATION — The Siamese Male Physique” has been created and developed through the art of Thai male physique. The book published by Mr. Douglas Latchford and Mr. Andreas Benischek is dedicated to the athletes of the Thailand Bodybuilding Association for their dedication and commitment though they have to face many obstacles. It is the objective of this unique book to create greater awareness and a better understanding of bodybuilding in Thailand and abroad. The high quality of this coffee-table book clearly shows the perfection of their sculptured bodies that requires dedication and long lasting commitment to the sport as it takes years to build a body to perfection.
This outstanding book sums up in artistic form the essence of masculinity and Bodybuilding. It shows that Bodybuilding is not only a sport, a hobby, an obsession, a competition, a love affair and a lifestyle but also an art form. This, therefore, can be thought of as a book whose images are held together by an argument, or rather by a whole series of arguments, expressed through aesthetic images rather than through words, about the nature of masculinity.
The fantastic photography visualizes powerful the physical strength and appearance achieved by highly committed and extremely motivated individuals who have dedicated their lives toward the betterment of our federation and our sport. The thoughtful and powerful wording accompanying each visual builds a strong connection to their passion for muscle building, the need to express themselves through muscle, might and training combined with discipline, focus and the importance of setting goals.
Mr Douglas Latchford, President of the “Thai Bodybuilding Association” and the “South-East-Asian Bodybuilding Association” hopes that the book will present bodybuilding in a new way as art form to a broader audience and also inspires athletes to continue their efforts for perfection of their bodies so they can stand up successfully the test on the global stage of bodybuilding.
“Some 2 ? years has been spent working on the concept with advertising and marketing expert Andreas Benischek who is responsible for the concept of the book and the execution of this project. Photos inside the book include 9 Thai male bodybuilding athletes and were taken by well known Thai photographer Phansiri “TIM” Sirivejchaphan.
Special thanks also to Mr Hans Mueller, a senior Creative Director at one of Thailand’s leading advertising agencies who has created a fantastic modern, yet stylish design and layout for this book.
Bodybuilding has been recognized in Thailand for so many years. However, the sport rarely gets support and understanding from either the public or even some sporting associations. The Thai Bodybuilding Association has been operating for many years but it has only been over the past couple of years that the athletes have reached world standards.
This has been due also to the fact that bodybuilder Sitthi Charoenrith, who is also featured in this book, recently won two gold medals in the 80kg-class of the 2005 and 2006 IFBB World Championship plus two gold medals in the 80kg-category at the SEA Games in 2005 and Asian Games in 2006, respectively.
Mr Sitthi Charoenrith has become a role model for bodybuilding in Thailand. He is also recognized by bodybuilding athletes all over the world and it took more than 12 years to reach his goal.
The authors wish to thank all the individuals who have contributed generously their time and efforts to make this important achievement possible in order to support the ambitious goals of the Thailand Bodybuilding Association and to support the athletes in their passion, dedication and hard work towards promoting our sport.
The book is available at B2S and Asia Book Bookstores in Bangkok and costs THB 1,500.00.
