Bangkok--7 Mar--AirAsia
AirAsia, Asia’s leading low fare airline is pleased to announce that the Group (AirAsia Berhad, Thai AirAsia and Indonesia AirAsia) has carried over 30 million guests to date. Recording the best quarter (ending 31 December 2006) results ever and now with passengers carried surpassing the 30 million mark, AirAsia is in a generous mood! Named “The Grand Sale”, the airline’s latest promotion is set to get everyone in a travel mood with fares as low as RM0.30*!
Barely in its 5th year, AirAsia’s achievement of recording 30 million guests will see the airline moving ahead to drive passenger loads by further stimulating travel with a total of 500,000 seats allocated in this latest promotion. The 30 millionth passenger mark was reached in February 2007. Last year, the airline crossed the 20 millionth mark in June 2006.
Kathleen Tan, Executive Vice President — Commercial, AirAsia, said “We are delighted to record this significant achievement. The promotion is our invitation to everyone to celebrate this achievement with us. AirAsia guests have continuously exhibited high demand for low fares which is now stronger than ever and the 30 million passengers is a testament that low fare rules.”
“We believe there are still many people out there who has never flown before and with our low fares, we can encourage people to fly and open up new first time flyers markets. We believe low fares are a major boost for business and tourism especially for Malaysia which will now enjoy an upsurge in all year round visitors from all over the region and the world with Visit Malaysia Year 2007,” continued Kathleen.
Guests can take advantage of this latest promotion to fly to AirAsia’s international destinations including Jakarta and Bandung for fares starting from only RM0.30* while fares to Bali, Bangkok, Macau (Hong Kong, Zhuhai, Guang Zhou), Hanoi, Phuket, Chiang Mai, Siem Reap, Phnom Penh and Clark (Manila) start from RM30*.
The booking period starts from midnight on 6 March 2007 up to 18 March 2007, and guests will have 12 days to book their flights. Guests can take advantage of the three (3) month travel period from 1 July to 30 September 2007. This promotion is available on AirAsia’s website, www.airasia.com .
“The Grand Sale is made possible for flights from our Malaysian hubs through our investment in new aircraft with added capacity and as we set to be an all-Airbus fleet by June this year, we hope to launch more exciting promotions that will see a return on investment made tangible by high passenger loads. Our brand new modern fleet of Airbus A320 certainly offers greater confidence for our guests to choose the leading low fare airline in Asia for all their traveling needs. New premium leather seats, greater comfort, ambience and space as well as quieter rides have helped enhanced our guests’ experience flying with us. And of course, all of this comes complimentary with our fun and friendly service too,” she concluded.
AirAsia currently operates more than 300 flights a day serving extensive routes across 10 countries and the promotion is made available for all destinations to and from all the Malaysian hubs which include Low Cost Carrier Terminal (KLIA), Johor Bahru, Kota Kinabalu and Kuching.
