Bangkok--9 Mar--Thai AirAsia
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), in cooperation with Thai AirAsia and Avis Rent a Car System, launched the Fly & Drive campaign today to boost tourism in Northern Thailand.
The campaign, which will run from March to June this year, will give travelers a new way of seeing Northern Thailand by offering them the option to fly to a city in the region and then taking in the sights while driving to a neighboring destination.
Special airfare, car rental, and hotel and resort accommodation rates await travelers participating in the promo. A brochure for the campaign is available for travelers.
TAT Deputy Governor for Domestic Market Jarubon Pananon, Thai AirAsia Chief Executive Officer Tassapon Bijleveld and Avis (Thai International Rent A Car Co., Ltd.) Managing Director Palop Thaiarry officiated the launching of the campaign.
Fly & Drive will allow smaller-group travel for families, friends and honeymooners who may want to follow their own itineraries. The campaign will focus on Class A and B travelers, including well-off families and high-income earners, office workers and businessmen, who want a different travel experience.
Northern Thailand was chosen as the pilot site for the campaign because the region has excellent airports, accommodations and car rental services. The sceneries between the northern cities of Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai are also impressive.
In support of the project, Thai AirAsia is offering special Bangkok-Chiang Mai and Bangkok-Chiang Rai airfare at only 699 baht. The special airfare is valid for tickets booked through the Avis call centre at telephone number +662 255 5300 from March 7 to 15 this year. The price is for one-way travel and excludes tax, fuel surcharge and applicable fees.
Meanwhile, cars can be rented from Avis at prices starting at 999 baht per day. Avis will waive the car drop-off fee for travelers participating in the campaign.
For more info, call TAT at 1672, Avis at +662 255 5300 or Thai AirAsia at +662 515 9999, or visit www.airasia.com or www.thailandflydrive.com .
Bookings for air tickets and car rentals for the campaign can only be made through Avis call centre at +662 255 5300.
