Bangkok--9 Mar--The Hong Kong Tourism
The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) warmly welcomes the tourism-related proposals announced today (28 February) by The Hon Henry Tang, GBS, JP, Hong Kong’s Financial Secretary, in his Budget Speech, in particular his continued recognition of the importance of tourism as a key driving force of the economy, and the Government’s commitment to further invest in tourism infrastructure.
The HKTB strongly supports the enhancement of the city’s cosmopolitan tourism profile so as to enrich visitors’ travel experience. Indeed, the HKTB has been actively promoting the city’s diverse and sophisticated appeal under the “Hong Kong — Live it, Love it!” marketing platform since 2003. In 2007, the HKTB will give special focus to the city’s living culture, and co-operate with the travel trade to develop a host of tours and itineraries featuring Hong Kong’s distinctive lifestyle.
The HKTB will also continue to promote Hong Kong’s natural attractions, as part of the city’s diverse appeal. Following the launch of the six-month Nature Kaleidoscope pilot programme in September 2006, which received strongly positive feedback from overseas visitors and media, the HKTB is now working closely with the travel trade to further refine and enrich the programme’s activities for implementation by the end of the second quarter this year.
Given the importance of quality services to Hong Kong’s tourism industry, the HKTB will continue its promotions of the Quality Tourism Services (QTS) scheme and the Honest & Quality Hong Kong Tours in Mainland cities under the Individual Visit Scheme (IVS). The HKTB will also work closely with the Hong Kong and Mainland travel trade partners, as well as the Consumer Council, to provide Mainland travellers with shopping information before and upon their arrival to Hong Kong.
