Bangkok--14 Mar--Tamnak Prathom Harp Centre
To celebrate the 7th cycle anniversary of HRH Princess Galyani Vadhnana, Krom Luang Naradhiwas Rajnagarindra who will be 84 in May this year, the Tamnak Prathom Harp Centre is holding a series of three concerts entitled “Young Artists in Concert” , featuring young, international competition winners and new talents of the younger generation.
The first of the concerts will feature young Shanghai harpist, Jie Zhou, in a recital “Jie Zhou Plays the Classics” on Saturday, March 24 at the Siam Society Auditorium, Sukumvit Soi 21 starting at 8 p.m.
The second in the series, to be held on July 5 at the Thailand Cultural Auditorium, will feature Thailand’s own international artist, violinist Taweewet Srinarong, together with his two younger sisters, cellist Uthaisri and violinist, Pintusorn, who will be joining with the harpists of the Tamnak Prathom Harp Centre.
Taweewet, a former student under patronage of the Princess, will be flying in from New York, bringing with him two Juilliard-graduate friends, American-born French-Indian cellist, Yves Dharamraj, and pianist Orn Banternghansa. Both will also be taking part in the concert in a true chamber music style with all instrumentalists inter-acting with one another, presenting work some of which would be rarely heard.
For the final concert on November 23, the Tamnak Prathom Harp Centre will be inviting back the internationally-known young harp and flute duo, Catrin Finch and Juliette Bausor, both of whom have performed twice before for the Princess and would be wanting to take part in this special event.
Programme for the concert this coming March will feature major pieces of work in the harp repertoire including Etude de Concert by Felix Godefroid , Henriette Renie’s “Danse de Lutins”, Elias Parish Alvars’ Serenade, Paul Hindemith Sonata as well as works by C.P.E.
