Mr. Thawatchai Thitisakdiskul, Senior Executive Vice President, Credit Card Business, “KTC” or Krungthai Card Public Company Limited, said “According to the data made available by National Statistics Office, the number of consumers in the provinces with minimum salary of 15,000 Baht per month who are qualified for credit card applications is as high as 10% and even 60% in certain provinces. That is why we are certain the potentials are there for us if we just reach out to these clients in the provinces. As such, we have engaged in serious study of them and found their routine to be simple, with focus on rational, basic necessities. They buy from local department stores which have been in the business for a long time, because they are familiar with the products and the services offered, perhaps, or because these department stores are managed by Thai executives who understand local consumers better. Consequently, we have decided to partner with these successful local department stores to add value for the clients in the provinces. This initiative supports the business of Thai managed local department stores as well.”
"We have visited the provinces and met with TDP (Thailand Department Store Pool), an association of local department stores with thirteen members in thirteen provinces across the country. These department stores are managed by Thai executives and are very popular among the locals. They also share our value of bringing privileges to the clients. To this end, we have collaboratively introduced “KTC Titanium MasterCard for TDP department stores” to offer their patrons more privileges and greater flexibility. These thirteen provinces have total population of over 18 million but only 2 million are eligible for a credit card. Of all the eligible population, about 650,000 are already holding a KTC credit card. That leaves potential clients at 1.35 million. We expect 50,000 applicants or 3% of the target group in the first year, mostly in the age bracket of 25-49.”
“The concept of “KTC Titanium MasterCard for TDP department stores” is “Value Near You”. It aims to fulfill the needs of consumers in all daily spending.
