TrueMove, part of True Corporation Plc, Thailand’s only fully-integrated communication solutions provider and convergence lifestyle enabler, hosts the GSM Association’s The Inter-Working, Roaming Expert Group (IREG) #52 Plenary & Sub Group Meetings in Bangkok from March 27th to 30th, 2007. The event brings together over 120 delegates from leading mobile operators around the world to resolve issues that will help ensure seamless international roaming, especially between 2G, 2.5G and 3G networks and non-voice roaming services.
The GSM Association (GSMA) is a global trade association representing more than 700 GSM mobile phone operators across 218 countries and territories of the world. More than 190 associate members which are manufacturers and suppliers support the GSMA’s initiatives as key partners. IREG, one of the GSMA’s key working groups, specifies technical, operational and performance standards supporting international roaming, taking into account the evolution of 3G GSM.

The IREG meeting focuses on signaling messages, mechanisms and scenarios for International Roaming on 2G, 2.5G and 3G networks, as well as signaling inter-working implementation, testing and troubleshooting guidelines in inter-generational roaming.
Moreover, the meeting will specify technical, operational and performance issues supporting international roaming in 2.5G and 3G to create specifications and guidelines based on Internet protocols. It also studies, from a compatibility and interoperability perspective, the transition from 2.5 to 3G.
