Canon today launched the greatest surge of new products ever, ranging from the new IXUS 75 and IXUS 70, new of 6 PowerShot digital cameras to the World’s first true 5-Megapixel DVD camcorder* and ‘Selphy’, the revolutionary portable photo printer.
The event impressed all those who attended with the newest ‘My Image My Canon’ TV commercial for the IXUS digital camera, featuring the witty Paula Taylor as a new presenter. The colossal campaign is certain to strengthen Canon’s market share in digital photography market in 2007.
“This year, Canon is focussing on new products with distinctive looks and state-of-the-art technology,” said Warin Tantipongpanich, Senior Director and General Manager for Consumer Imaging and Information Division of Canon Marketing (Thailand Co., Ltd). “We’re concentrating especially on the digital camera segment, responding to consumers’ needs in all aspects -- from design and colour to resolution and image quality -- that contribute to convenience and variety of uses for consumers.”
The new IXUS digital cameras include IXUS 75 and IXUS 70, providing a slimmer dimension without inhibiting image quality, and with the Linear Lens technology that allows light to pass through the lens directly to the image processor. This greatly contributes to the sharpness of the image by obviating the need for image reflection or lens shifting to achieve a slimmer dimension.
Advanced Multiple Face Detection technology makes it easier to focus sharply on multiple portraits simultaneously. IXUS also controls flash exposure (FE) so that it synchronises with the exposure on the face. The massive 3.0” LCD (IXUS 75) comes with 7.1 Megapixels of image quality. In addition, the 6 new PowerShot digital cameras -- A450, A460, A550, A570IS, A560 and TX1 -- offer a wide range of resolution from 5 to 7.1 Megapixels, with Canon’s proprietary DIGIC image processor.
The launch also included the introduction of three newest digital camcorder, DC51 - the World’s first true 5-Megapixel DVD camcorder, as well as the good-sized DC230/220/210 and MD160 -120 models that offer ease of use and complete functions with 35x optical zoom and 1000x high magnification digital zoom.
The new Selphy photo printer was also introduced. Compact and lightweight, it enables users to print photos anywhere and at any time. Automatic correction of red-eye and back-lit flaws and optional wireless support will give Selphy users the results they’re seeking.
Deftly merging stylish design with smart technology, IXUS 75 and IXUS 70 provide the exact photo solutions to suit consumers’ lifestyle and printing needs. Canon has poured more than Baht 100 millions into this campaign to create awareness of its newest products to consumers with a modern lifestyle.
Canon’s newest 30-second TV commercial for IXUS is in the ‘My Image My Canon’ concept. The scene is a blurred, out-of-focus cityscape. Paula appears, and with her fingers makes the sign of the ‘C.’ The foggy surroundings become clearer and clearer until we finally see what it is in Paula’s hand that’s making everything so clean and sharp: it’s the IXUS digital camera.
