Bangkok--3 Apr--Hutchison CAT Wireless MultiMedia
CAT Telecom Public Company Limited (‘CAT Telecom’) and Hutchison CAT Wireless MultiMedia Ltd. (‘Hutchison CAT’) today announced the commencement of nationwide CDMA roaming service between CAT Telecom’s CDMA network in 51 upcountry provinces and the CDMA network in 25 other central provinces where the service is marketed by Hutchison CAT.
Starting from today, customers of the CDMA mobile service will be able to enjoy seamless CDMA voice and SMS service anywhere in Thailand at a normal service fee rate. Customers will no longer need to pay roaming service surcharge or adjust their phone setting when using CDMA voice and SMS service when traveling with in the country.
The two companies plan to extend the roaming service arrangement to other CDMA services such as data and EV-DO in due course.

CAT Telecom currently has 1,600 CDMA base stations in 51 upcountry provinces. In the 25 provinces where Hutchison CAT provides marketing services, there are 1,084 CDMA outdoor sites and 323 in-building sites. The roaming service arrangement creates a nationwide CDMA footprint. The seamless roaming of two CDMA networks will enhance efficiency of CDMA communication, enabling CDMA customers to communicate conveniently and efficiently throughout the country.
