Unilever Thai Trading Ltd has introduced Clinic Clear first ever shampoo for men in the Thai’s market. With a huge budget of 250 million baht, Clinic Clear opens a new segment in the Thai hair care and nourishment market to serve more than eight million men nationwide who want a shampoo designed for a man’s special needs. Clinic Clear For Men is the ideal choice for hair nourishment and marks the ultimate solution for hair and scalp problems. To promote the new product, Unilever unveiled a chic Bluetooth-enabled billboard in the heart of Siam Square that allows Clinic Clear fans to download great content including sports and entertainment at no cost.
The unique teaser ad featuring a challenging message that, “On April 5th, Men around the country will experience something concurrently” has become a talk of the town in Thailand. This ad marks an unparalleled knock-out blow by Unilever to open the new men’s shampoo segment and launch the new Clinic Clear For Men, targeting male consumers nationwide at a time when men’s personal care products are booming. Clinic Clear For Men will be available in three nations concurrently.
According to Mrs. Wannipa Bhakdibutra, Vice President, Home and Personal Care, Unilever Thai Trading Ltd., “Clinic Clear For Men marks an important step for Unilever, which is the first and only company to develop an anti-dandruff shampoo for men in Thailand. The Clinic Clear Technology Center’s studies have found many physiological differences between men and women. Men sweat twice as much as women and this leads to oilier scalps for men. Men are also more likely to suffer dandruff than women and have more hair loss than women. Thus, a special shampoo for men that can nourish and solve core hair and scalp-related problems was clearly needed.”
“Based on recent insights into marketing opportunities for men’s shampoo, our target group includes more than 8 million men aged 20-35 years throughout the country who are looking for a shampoo that best meets their hair care needs while helping to eradicate and prevent dandruff,” said Mrs. Wannipa.
“We believe that with its outstanding efficacy in taking care of a man’s hair and scalp and preventing dandruff, making hair cleaner, stronger and easier to style, Clinic Clear For Men will be the ideal solution that wins the hearts of Thai males who want increased confidence in their appearance. This marks another step forward for Unilever which has successfully served the needs of all Thai consumer groups,” concluded Mrs. Wannipa.
The launch of Clinic Clear For Men is the largest marketing campaign in Unilever’s hair care and cleansing business group this year. Approximately 250 million baht was set aside to undertake marketing communications activities that will reach all target consumers and appropriately reflect their lifestyles. Activities include TV commercials, outdoor advertising media, promotional campaigns and product sampling.”
Clinic Clear For Men has arranged a chic interactive billboard at Siam Square. The trendy content of the billboard includes sports, news and exciting games and is available to serve male consumers with modern lifestyles at no cost between April 9 — May 15, 2007. Hundreds of thousands of samples will be distributed to men nationwide, between April 15 — 30, 2007.
