THE CENTER FOR INTERNATIONAL PRIVATE ENTERPRISE invites you to a roundtable discussion on Promoting Moral Capitalism: The Ethical Foundations of Economic Development and Social Progress with Stephen Young Global Executive Director, Caux Round Table
Corporate social responsibility is becoming increasingly instrumental in defining the role of business in society. As reducing poverty remains one of the key challenges facing the global community today, a greater emphasis must be put on the ability of the private sector to promote economic and social justice and to improve individual lives and communities. These foundations of moral capitalism are inherent in all cultures. Join us as Stephen Young discusses corporate social responsibility from the business viewpoint and uncovers strategies to promote ethical practices in business, government, and NGOs.
Stephen Young is the global executive director of the Caux Round Table (CRT), an international network of experienced business leaders who advocate a principled approach to global capitalism. The CRT advocates implementation of the CRT Principles for Business, Government, and NGOs through which sustainability and social responsibility can become the foundation for a fair, free, and transparent global society. Young was formerly the third dean of the Hamline University School of Law and an assistant dean of Harvard Law School. He has written extensively and published Moral Capitalism: Reconciling Private Interest with the Public Good, a well-received book written as a guide to the Caux Round Table ethical and socially responsible Principles for Business. Young was educated at Harvard College and Harvard Law School.
