Bangkok--10 Apr--DENSO International
Technical Center established as part of the new company
DENSO Corporation announced today that DENSO International Asia Pte. Ltd. (DIAS), DENSO’s Singapore-based regional headquarters for the Asia and Oceania region, established a wholly owned company in the suburbs of Bangkok, Thailand in February. The new company, DENSO International Asia Co., Ltd. (DIAT), has an initial capital investment of approximately 700 million baht (approximately 2.5 billion yen*). A technical center was also established as part of the new company.
The new company will oversee and provide support in areas including production planning, information systems, and training for DENSO group companies in the Asia and Oceania region. As a result, some functions from DIAS and DENSO International (Thailand) Co., Ltd., which is responsible for sales and support to manufacturing companies in Thailand, will be transferred to DIAT. The new technical center will develop products to meet needs in the market.
Operations for DIAT are scheduled to start in the spring of 2008, by which time the company plans to employ approximately 210 people. Investments are expected to reach approximately 1 billion baht (approximately 3.6 billion yen*).
DIAS will continue to oversee Asia and Oceania operations in areas including finance, logistics, and information system development.
“DENSO aims to build a competitive business structure in Asia and Oceania by positioning the appropriate functions in Thailand, where the automotive market is growing, and in Singapore with its advanced infrastructure, particularly for finance and distribution,” said Kazutaka (Ken) Nimura, president of DIAS.
DENSO Corporation, headquartered in Kariya, Aichi prefecture, Japan, is a leading global supplier of advanced technology, systems and components. Worldwide, the company employs approximately 106,000 people in 32 countries and regions, including Japan. Consolidated global sales for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2006 totaled US$27.3 billion.
