WORRIES ON URANIUM PRODUCTION OF IRAN’S NUCLEAR PROGRAM PUSH UP LOCAL OIL PRICES BY 40 SATANG

ข่าวทั่วไป Wednesday April 11, 2007 14:44 —PRESS RELEASE LOCAL

Bangkok--11 Apr--PTT
Mr. Chaivat Churitti, Senior Executive Vice President of Oil Business Group — PTT Public Company Limited (PTT), revealed that despite the easing down of the recent political tension between Iran and United Kingdom after the Iranian Government released 15 British Soldiers who were held as the hostages by Iran, the soaring levels of uranium production in Iran, the uncertainties in Nigeria, and the recent report of the 6.21% decline in the United States’ refined oil reserves to 12.3 million barrels have brought about negative psychological effects and triggered further increase in global oil prices.
As a result, Dubai Crude as of April 10, 2007 rose to 64.21 US$/barrel, gasoline 95 reached 82.86 US$/barrel, and diesel shot up to 78.76 US$/barrel. The rising global oil prices have also pushed up the cost of the domestic markets and led to the great pressure on the marketing margins of both gasoline and diesel to touch the very low levels. Amid such heavy pressure, PTT is forced to revise all of its retail oil prices up by 40 satang per liter, effective 5 AM of April 11, 2007. After the revision, the retail oil prices in Bangkok and the nearby provinces will be as follows:
Unit : Baht/Liter
Gasoline PTT Alpha X 95 28.79
Gasoline PTT Gasohol 95 Plus 26.29 (Baht2.5 cheaper than Gasoline 95)
Gasoline PTT Alpha X 91 27.99
Gasoline PTT Gasohol 91 Plus 25.99 (Baht2 cheaper than Gasoline 91)
High Speed Diesel PTT Delta X Euro III 24.94
PTT Bio Diesel / Palm Diesel 24.24 (70 Satang cheaper than Diesel)
Due to the current fluctuation of oil prices, PTT would like to urge motorists to try their best to save fuel expenditure because the majority of local oil consumption was from foreign imports. Drivers should plan ahead prior to their traveling, automobile check-up, and safe driving should be alerted, particularly during the upcoming Songkran Festival. In addition, one should turn to alternative fuels such as “PTT Gasohol 95 Plus” (Baht2.5 per liter cheaper than Gasoline 95), “PTT Gasohol 91 Plus” (Baht2 per liter cheaper than Gasoline 91), “Bio diesel” (70 satang cheaper than diesel), and NGV (Baht8.5 per kilogram) which can tremendously help save fuel expenses for both individuals and the country.
