Joan & David’s spring summer 2007 ladieswear collection encompasses a gorgeous relaxed femininity from which soft contours, delicate fabrics and beautiful tones all emerge with modernity and freshness. Designed by American-born designer, Kathy Wuersch, the collection is for the modern woman who wants style and elegance, without compromising on quality. Available now at Joan & David counters at Central Chidlom, Siam Paragon and The Emporium.
The collection plays with new relaxed shapes and proportions by contrasting slim trousers with wider tops and tunics and flowing trousers with more fitted cropped jackets, creating a sporty yet elegant and modern look. The exquisite tailoring and attention to detail by adding fine lace and ribbon adds an extra touch to each item. As does the embroidery on natural textured fabrics like linen, which teamed with cropped trousers is perfect for a day occasion look. Floaty dresses promises to be one of the season’s significant items, like the belted butterfly sleeve dress available in a multi-graphic print and silver/grey, the oversized cap sleeve shirt dress in henna and the A-Line modern art dress.
Muted hues and absolute whites such as alabaster, ivory, parchment almond are the focus of this season’s colour palette which compliments the subtleness and simplicity of the collection. Juxtapositions of black and white projects confidence and power and continues to be striking. The feather crepe, graphic tweed and graphic floral prints are used to give soft volume to these black and white separates, whilst soft metallic silver and gold are used wisely to evoke a soft romantic appeal. In the summer, shades of brown such as cocoa butter, tobacco and chamois is accented with vibrant lime yellow and apple green as seen in the Safari-inspired pieces.
From a resort feel to urban safari and cocktail dressing, this season the Joan & David collection offers plenty of key items to fill the spring wardrobe with, all resonating its’ signature spirit.
