Bangkok--18 Apr--SET
To enhance general understanding of futures and options, Thailand Futures Exchange PCL (TFEX) will hold a seminar on these products before the launch of SET50 Index Options in Q3/2007.
SET50 Index Options will enable investors to derive both upside and downside gains, and should be used as a strategic investment or risk management tool. TFEX will implement an educational outreach program, covering Bangkok and major provinces such as Chiang Mai, Songkhla, and Khon Kaen, to familiarize investors with derivatives-trading. The program begins on April 28 at the Faculty of Economics, Chiang Mai University, TFEX Managing Director Ms. Kesara Manchusree said.
“In Chiang Mai, besides attending the seminar, participants will have an opportunity to try trading futures and options in an online game - the TFEX Futures Camp Challenge — where they can gain hands-on experience and have a chance to win prizes. The Challenge, which will take place during May 24 — 25, helps participants to become better informed and adapt their simulated experience to real trading,” Ms. Kesara stated.
TFEX’s training and workshop in derivatives trading for beginners aims to both educate and enlarge the investor base this year. The second outreach program will be in Songkhla province around mid-2007, with further activities planned for other major provinces throughout the year.
Anyone interested in participating in TFEX’s educational programs can reserve a place by calling SET Call Center 0-2229-2222, or registering at www.tfex.co.th free-or-charge. The first 200 applicants will receive a TFEX t-shirt as a special gift.
