Bangkok--24 Apr--Thai AirAsia
Thai AirAsia, Thailand’s leading low fare airline, is supporting Narathiwat Football Club’s drive for the Division 1 Football title by way of air travel sponsorship worth more than 3 million baht.
Thai AirAsia will fly the Narathiwat Football Club for free to cities for matches against competing teams. Thai AirAsia will also fly for free the competing teams that are scheduled to play against the Narathiwat team in the Narathiwat stadium. Twelve of Thailand’s best football clubs will vie for the title.
“Thai AirAsia is proud to support the Narathiwat Football Club in its bid to win in the Division 1 games. The Narathiwat team has wonderful potential in football, and the team always unifies the people of Narathiwat, who come together as one in their support for their favorite team,” Tassapon Bijleveld, chief executive of Thai AirAsia, said.
The sponsorship also aims to make the team’s travel to other cities comfortable and fast. Thai AirAsia’s sponsorship of a Thai football team shows the airline’s support for all sports and health enthusiasts in Thailand, Mr. Bijleveld added.
“The Narathiwat Football Club is grateful for Thai AirAsia’s sponsorship, which helps make our dreams come true. We are training very hard to reach the championships. Now we can avoid the long and tiring bus rides before the games. Now other teams can also come to Narathiwat to play in our hometown,” said Koo Heng Yawohsan, a consultant for the Narathiwat team.
Thai AirAsia is the only airline that serves the Bangkok-Narathiwat route. It is also the only low fare airline serving both domestic and international flights at Suvarnabhumi International Airport.
Another industry leader, White Winner Co., Ltd., has also extended support for the Narathiwat Football Club.
“White Winner, maker of top-of-the-line Umbro sports apparel, is supporting the team through uniform sponsorship,” said Phornthip Wattanapol Mangkol, marketing director of the company.
The first game for the Division 1 series is scheduled on April 29 at Narathiwat Stadium. The Narathiwat team’s first game is against Rattana Bundit Football Club. The team is also scheduled to play later with the VIP teams of Thai AirAsia and V-Star.
Thai AirAsia flies to 10 domestic and nine international destinations. Its domestic destinations include Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Hat Yai, Krabi, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Narathiwat, Phuket, Surat Thani, Ubon Ratchathani and Udon Thani. Thai AirAsia is acquiring 40 brand new Airbus A320 aircraft, the first of which will be received in October 2007.
The Narathiwat Football team was formed in 2004. Watchala Yawohsan and Koo Heng Yawohsan, Narathiwat team consultants, said that Narathiwat is very proud to be a premier Thai football club.
The Narathiwat team is now training very hard at their hometown stadium for the Division 1 competition.
