Bangkok--25 Apr--SET
The 7th ‘Money Expo 2007’, co-hosted by The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), is to be held during May 10 — 13, 2007 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC) where banks and other financial institutions will be offering a variety of promotions. SET will showcase its “Investment Zone” with the theme: “Plan your investment today for better finance tomorrow”. Other capital market organizations will be presenting their services and products, and there will be 50 seminar sessions over the four-day event.
The event, whose full title is “7th Money Expo 2007: sufficient money-sufficient life”, will involve 167 organizations from the private and public sectors, including Money & Banking Magazine. Among this year’s highlights are a range of financial and investment-related products, a selection of consumer goods, SME products, and farm products, Mr. Santi Viriyarungsarit, Editor-in-Chief of Money & Banking Magazine, who is the chairman in hosting 7th Money Expo 2007 said.
“People seeking loans will find several financial products available at the Expo, while those with extra cash will find ways to generate more wealth. All sides are catered for,” Mr. Santi added.
Activities at the Money Expo 2007 will be in 3 areas:
Money Zone: Plenary Hall 1-3 will house comprehensive financial services such as credit cards, personal credit, loans for homes, SMEs and cars, life insurance/assurance and savings products.
Investment Zone: Hall A, Ballroom, and Meeting Room 1 — 4, and Plaza areas will contain capital market services and activities, including SET, Market for Alternative Investment (mai), Bond Electronic Exchange (BEX), Thailand Futures Exchange (TFEX), Agricultural Futures Exchange of Thailand (AFET), Government Pension Fund and other financial organizations, e.g. securities, investment management and listed companies.
SME and Shopping Zone: Zone C will feature household products and premium products from the ‘One Tambon, One Product’ project. There will also be a business start-up ‘clinic’ and consumer credit from non-bank institutions.
Loan and credit opportunities
Mr. Santi said that the financial products offered by commercial banks and other financial institutions will be uniquely competitive and consumer-oriented.
“People wishing to apply for credit or loans are advised to bring documents such as their ID cards, house registration certificates, salary statements or land or residential purchase/sale documents, so that preliminary approval can be processed quickly. This is an opportune time as interest rates are falling.”
Other highlights include entertaining games and activities, prizes and giveaways, and mini-concerts from well-known artists.
Fund excess and wealth building alternatives
SET’s ‘Investment Zone’ will combine the earlier ‘SET in the City’ and ‘Analysts’ Fair’ themes, SET President Ms. Patareeya Benjapolchai said.
Investment management and securities firms will present a range of investment choices available through SET, mai, BEX, TFEX and AFET.
To provide further information about investment and listed companies, participating organizations include the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Thailand Securities Depository Co., Ltd., SETTRADE.Com Co., Ltd., Family Know-How Co., Ltd., Thailand Securities Institute, Securities Analysts Association and listed companies.
“The online stock game ‘SET Click2WIN’ will be a highlight for both new and experienced investors. Anyone can join the game which will go from 10:30 to 19:30 hours by applying at the ‘SET Click2WIN’ booth. Applicants will be entitled to attend a workshop, and receive a SETRADE bag and a SETSMART handbook,” Ms. Patareeya added
The seminars cover a variety of interesting subjects for investors at all levels. Topics include ‘Learning to trade derivatives’, ‘How to gain from mutual funds’, ‘Investing in the Year of Pig’, ‘Stock highlights’, and ‘Futures market: an interesting alternative’. There will be an Analysts’ Fair held on Friday, May 11.
About 500 listed companies will distribute their annual reports free-of charge, in both hard copy and CD-ROM.
Expo visitors will also have a great chance to participate in a worthy cause. By donating only THB 40.00, they will get a SET pocket book, and the total proceeds will go to Duang Prateep Foundation, Phayathai Babies’ Home Foundation, Distance Learning Foundation, and Baan Nokkamin Foundation.
In 2006, there were about 600,000 visitors at the Expo, with a record 93,000 loan and credit applicants making transactions totaling about THB 60,000 million.
