Bangkok--2 May--SET
The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET)’s Thailand Securities Institute (TSI) has provided THB 8 million in software to 19 academic institutions in its University Networking Program to stimulate investment and publish teaching manuals. The program gives students simulated investment experience.
SET, in conjunction with academic institutions and its networking partners, is committed to educating students to be future investors and giving them hands-on investment experience through the TSI Investment Simulation Program, SET President Ms. Patareeya Benjapolchai said.
Because TSI developed the program in collaboration with the SET subsidiary companies--SETTRADE.Com Co., Ltd., Bond Electronic Exchange, and Thailand Futures Exchange PCL, it simulates investment across a broad range of instruments. The 19 recipient institutions, each of whom have finance or investment-related curricula, will install the program in their computer systems and use it in workshops, SET’s Capital Market Education Division Chairman Mr. Punsak Vejanurug added.
“As these students could become securities professionals or investors in the future, the TSI Investment Simulation Program gives them an invaluable practical preparation in portfolio investment. To ensure quality student education, TSI will provide training to the relevant faculty and staff,” Mr. Punsak said.
The TSI program forms part of SET’s tertiary educational strategy which aims to build an awareness of personal finance, not only in institutions, but also in their host communities..
The 19 recipient institutions (29 faculties) of TSI Investment Simulation Program are Bangkok, Chiangmai, Dhurakijpundit, Kasetsart, Khon Kaen, Mae Fah Luang, Mahasarakham, Mahidol, Naresuan, Payap, Prince Songkhla, Sripatum, Srinakharintarawirot, Thammasat, and Ubon Ratchathani Universities; and Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy, Chulalongkorn University & Sasin Graduate Institute of Business Administration, National Institute of Development Administration, and The University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce.
