Classical architectural works contest launched

Bangkok--4 Jul--PR One Network The Emperor House Ltd and Silapakorn University’s Faculty of Decorative Arts jointly hold a photo contest and line drawing of classical architecture in Thailand this year. The project, aimed at preserving classical architecture in Thailand, is open to general people and students to submit their work to the organizers within Sept 30. The grand prize money worth over 250,000 baht will be awarded to the winner. Mr Suratchai Kuenghakit, the managing director of the Emperor House Ltd, the premium home builders market leader, stressed that the project, namely “Thailand Classical Architecture Photographic & Drawing Contest 2007”, was to help preserve the Thai classical architecture to maintain sustainable in society the long run. Mr Suratchai said the project was open to general people and capable students who had expertise in taking photos and drawing line of classical architecture. Yet, it would become a stage for them to show off their capabilities and skills and to stimulate general people to get to know it better. He said the project would last between this month to September. General people and students of all ages who want to join the project could submit their work to the organizers within Sept 30. The first judgment session would be held on Oct 10 and the semi-final one would later be held on Oct 24. For submitting original works to the contest, he said, the works were divided into two types. Firstly, the contestants could submit their 10*12 inches photos of the classical architecture in Thailand, along with a compact disc recording their image files. Secondly, they could submit their line drawings of the same topic on A3 feature board. And they must describe about their inspiration on a piece of A4 paper and stick it on the feature board’s back. Mr Suratchai said the judgment criteria included creativity and works design. The judgment committee members who were made up of representatives from his company and Silapakorn University’s Faculty of Decorative Arts really wanted to see whether the submitted works could beautifully explain the meaning of the works. The judgment of these committee members was unanimous, thus the contestants were not allowed to lodge their complaints or express their views against it. He said the winner prize was divided into two categories. The first winner for photo contest would earn 50,000 baht .The first runner up would be awarded 20,000 baht while three others whose works were praised would get 10,000 baht each.
