Bangkok--13 Nov--Glow Energy Glow energy continues to announce robust results, posting consolidated total revenues of Bt24,001mn, Earnings Before Interest Taxes Depreciation and Amortisation (“EBITDA”) of Bt6,587mn, and Normalised Net Profit (“NNP”, net profit before unrealised foreign exchange gains and losses) of Bt3,311mn, for the nine months period ended 30 September 2007. The results represent a slight year-on-year fall in EBITDA and NNP of -2.3% and -3.9% respectively, a robust result despite a strengthening of the Thai Baht, reduction in PEA price and rising fuel prices. The strengthening of the Thai Baht of over 9% year-on-year alone has caused our NNP to drop by over 300 MTHB as most of our NNP are in USD. The industrial sales performed well and electricity sales to industrial customers increased by more than 7%, while steam sales also rose nearly 4%. In October 2007, the company submitted 2 proposals to the Ministry of Energy in response to the Ministry’s Request for Proposal for additional capacity under the Independent Power Producer program. The company submitted 1 coal proposal and 1 gas proposal for roughly 700 MW each. The results are expected by the end of this year. The proposed gas fired project is based on the most advanced commercially available gas turbine technology with high efficiency and low emissions. Glow also bid, together with Hemaraj Land and Development Public Company Limited, a coal fired project which is pending EIA approval. The company believes that the project will receive support and acceptance from the Thai public in general. The plant, which will be among the cleanest coal-fired plants in the world, will meet statutory emission limits required for coal-fired plants of the most stringent international regulations such as the European Union and the emissions will be significantly below the World Bank Guidelines and Thai regulations. The project will be located within the industrial estate that has been in operation for more than 15 years and therefore will not create additional impact on the lifestyle of the local community. As part of the IPP expansion, and as a legally binding condition for permitting, Glow will also invest significantly in emission reduction technologies. Therefore, once the new coal fired IPP plant becomes operational, the group’s total SOX and NOX emission will even be lower than the current level, contributing to cleaner air for the local community. On top of this, the new coal fired project will have contractual commitments to contribute funds with the prime objective of enhancing the local community development including education, healthcare, career development, standard of living improvement and social development. We expect the contribution of the new plant to this fund to be around THB 100 million per year. Glow’s coal fired proposal, if selected, will contribute to the government’s aim to improve fuel diversification of the country’s power supply leading to a more stable and cheaper price of electricity. In addition to the new IPP business, Glow is also awaiting the result of the new SPP program where the company has submitted 2 proposals to EGAT for 74 MW and 90 MW. Currently the company has altogether 8 Power Purchase Agreements with EGAT totaling 590 MW. The company is hopeful that it can continue to expand its cogeneration business along with the growth of the petrochemical business in the Map Ta Phut area.
