Bangkok--13 Nov--Thana Burin Asia Pacific Asia Wireless Communication Co., Ltd. (AWC) welcomes executives from Willcom Inc, the leader in communications technology for the Personal Handy-phone System (PHS), on a visit to exchange technological information with AWC which is the market leader in Thailand and operator of WE PCT, a cordless fixed-phone service. Recognizing the growth potential in Asia, including Thailand, which is regarded as a market with diverse communications technologies, especially WE PCT for communities sharing the same lifestyles, the purpose of Willcom’s visit is also to share technological know-how for innovations and developments in the market. Willcom Inc’s visit marks the start of exchanges in technology, know-how, business as well as marketing experiences with AWC. Through AWC, which is Thailand’s market leader of the WE PCT service in Bangkok and the metropolitan area, Willcom Inc can learn more about the local market. This in turn could help in the development of innovations, technology and business direction for the Asian region for the Personal Handy-phone System (PHS). “We are very honored and delighted that Willcom Inc from Japan has chosen to visit us,” said Mr Adhiruth Thothaveesansuk, President of Asia Wireless Communication Co Ltd (AWC). “This visit enables both companies to exchange experiences in technology and marketing which we believe would greatly benefit AWC and the Thai market. Willcom Inc is the region’s market leader, and their recent visit to AWC indicates that Thailand has been identified as an important emerging market for communications with great potential for further development. Furthermore, there are many opportunities to introduce new PHS technologies in Thailand. We believe that this could lead to various collaborations in the future.” Now the two companies will collaborate to consider issues, such as WILLCOM’s technical support and AWS’s reviewing the feasibility of commercialization, in order to evaluate the feasibility of the introduction in Thailand of Next-Generation PHS is working to develop commercial as the successor to PHS. PHS, which was developed in Japan, has currently spread to Thailand, China and Taiwan in Asia and to Latin America. There are about 100 million PHS subscribers worldwide. Expectations ate high regarding the development of Next-Generation PHS as the successor to PHS in the countries where PHS has become widespread. Accordingly, PHS technology is being standardized by the PHS MoU Group, and has been recommended by the ITU (International Telecommunications Union as a BWA (Broadband Wireless Access) System. Next Generation PHS is a transmission system that can achieve a high speed of at least 20 Mbps, by adding the latest technologies and MIMO to current PHS technology.
