Bangkok--15 Nov--True Group True Corporation PLC (SET: TRUE) recorded impressive subscriber growth in the three months to September 30 in its mobile phone and pay-TV businesses, led by True Moveกฆs record 2.1 million net adds. Group service revenue and EBITDA were higher Y-on-Y. True Move subscriber numbers reached 11.2 million, with another successful season of reality show Academy Fantasia (AF4) a major factor behind the quarterกฆs 2.1 million net adds. Market share of quarterly net adds was 70%, lifting market share of net adds for the first nine months of the year to 35% and placing the full-year target of 33% firmly within reach. Total market share now stands at 22.7%. True President and CEO Supachai Chearavanont said the Groupกฆs convergence lifestyle strategy played a key role in True Moveกฆs growth. The ability to offer content-led convergence opportunities within the Group represents a key competitive advantage for True Move and our other businesses, helping increase subscribers and improve customer loyalty. As well as AF4, we also added during Q3 rich content such as English Premier League (EPL) and other sport, music and entertainment initiatives, offering them across our mobile, broadband and pay-TV platforms,กจ said Mr Supachai. At Group level, consolidated service revenue of Bt 15.2 billion (including interconnection charges (IC)) was down 3.5% Q-on-Q (due mainly to decreased IC revenue) but up 20.3% Y-on-Y. Excluding IC, revenue was down by 1.4% Q-on-Q but up 1.1% Y-on-Y. EBITDA of Bt 4.7 billion was down 4.0% from last quarter but 15.5% higher compared with Q306. The Y-on-Y increase was due mainly to True Moveกฆs contribution. Group net profit for Q307 was Bt 1.2 billion compared with a net loss of Bt 595 million in Q207 and a net loss of Bt 1.2 billion in Q306. The improvement was largely due to a significant decrease in depreciation expenses, following the implementation of longer estimated useful lives of Trueกฆs assets to better reflect their economic lives. The impact for the first nine months of 2007 of Bt 3.9 billion was fully reflected in Q3 (net impact was approximately Bt 2.8 billion after increases in related deferred income tax). Broadband added 22,000 subscribers to reach 526,000, driven by the continuing popularity of its market-leading SUPER hi-speed package (a bundling package with True Move and TrueVisions), which has now attracted 282,000 subscribers. TrueVisions added 28,000 subscribers (up from 1,200 in Q2) to reach 597,000 in total. AF4, the start of the EPL season and the launch of new channels all contributed to the growth. The mass market campaign กV bundling with True Move กV maintained momentum with total subscribers reaching 318,000. If these subscribers are included, TrueVisionsกฆ total subscriber base would be close to 900,000. During the first nine months of 2007, True repaid Bt 4.7 billion in long term loans. Trueกฆs balance sheet continued to improve with the ratio of consolidated net debt to EBITDA falling to 3.7 times for the nine months to September 30, compared with 4.6 times in FY06.
